The Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU)  on Friday, 24 April 2026 officially hand over leadership to a new Governing Council, marking a significant milestone in the Association’s continued growth and contribution to Uganda’s human resource profession.

The transition saw Mr. Ronald Bbosa, who has served two impactful terms as President, hand over office to Mr. Paul Rumanda Rugambwa, the incoming President.

    Mr. Ronald Bbosa

“We know most organisations in Uandag last 5 years. Our decades speak to resilience and those before us. Governance thrives on resources and this council proved revenue can come’’, said Bbosa , the outgoing President.

Mr. Rumanda assumed office at a defining moment for the profession, with a clear commitment to strengthening governance, advancing professional standards, fostering unity across the HR community, and positioning HRMAU for sustainable growth.

Mr. Paul Rumanda Rugambwa, the incoming President.

His leadership agenda emphasizes ethical and accountable governance, the professionalization of HR practice, inclusive member engagement, and strategic partnerships that enhance the Association’s national relevance and impact.

With a nationwide membership of over 1,300 HR professionals, HRMAU remains a key driver of professional standards and policy engagement in the labor and employment sector.

The Association has notably been at the forefront of championing the Human Resource Management Professionals Bill, aimed at professionalizing and regulating HR practice in Uganda.

The leadership transition includes the following changes: President Mr. Ronald Bbosa, Mr. Paul Rumanda Rugambwa Vice President, Ms. Esther Regina Nampijja, Ms. Concepta Nambejja  Secretary General, Ms. Leticia Iguma, Ms. Evelyn Lwanga  Director Finance, Ms. Joyce Nakalema , Ms. Esther Regina Nampijja, Director PR & Marketing: Mr. Waswa Moses (Second Term) Director, Programs Mr. Emmanuel Otim,  Ms. Faith Mirembe ,  Director Professional Development Mr. Andrew Kawesa Ssebwalunyo → Mr. Remigious Kaggwa • Director, Membership Development: Ms. Karuhanga Agnes (Inaugural Office Bearer) • Director, Research & Publications: Mr. Musinguzi Peter Kabaseke (Inaugural Office Bearer).

In a landmark governance reform approved at an Extraordinary General Meeting in 2025, HRMAU amended its bylaws to replace committee membership with director-led portfolios.

This reform, implemented for the first time in the Association’s 25-year history, reflects HRMAU’s commitment to stronger governance, greater accountability, and a sharper strategic focus.

The outgoing committee members included Mr. Joseph Rwabutomize, Ms. Angel Ayebazibwe, and Mr. Innocent Dhawa. The creation of new directorates for Membership Development and Research and Publications is intended to deepen member engagement, promote evidence-based HR practice, and enhance HRMAU’s contribution to national workforce development.

This transition goes beyond a ceremonial handover. It reflects HRMAU’s ongoing evolution as a trusted partner in Uganda’s labour and employment ecosystem, particularly at a time when organizations are increasingly relying on HR professionals for strategic leadership in workforce planning, productivity, talent development, and policy advocacy.

HRMAU urged leaders across government, employers, development partners, professional bodies, and HR practitioners nationwide to support the new Governing Council as the Association advances professionalism, ethical leadership, innovation, and excellence in human resource management.
