    The leader of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) USA Chapter , Mr Ronnie Kananura arrived in Uganda on Sunday morning ahead of the highly anticipated General elections scheduled to be held on 15 January 2026 to elect the President and the Parliament.

    Kananura was received by a group of PLU mobilizers led by Mr Nkuusa Francis , the chief Mobiliser PLU-USA chapter who also jetted into the country on December 29th 2025.

    Kananura and his team , who have been largely mobilizing the Diaspora  to promote the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM)’s Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the party’s presidential flagbearer for the upcoming 2026 general elections , say they have rallied under the theme: “Protecting the Gains’’ which underscores the party’s commitment to consolidating achievements in security, infrastructure, and social services while steering the country toward higher economic growth.

    ‘’We all understand the NRM’s focus on preserving Uganda’s stability, economic progress, and socio-economic transformation. Today, we protect the gains and build a prosperous Uganda together because the government has created an environment to enable citizens prosper’’, Kananura told Journalists at Entebbe International Airport (EBB) shortly after his arrival.

    He said his team has been carrying out activities aimed at uniting Ugandans abroad behind President Yoweri Museveni and NRM candidates ahead of the upcoming elections.

    ‘’This has also promoted NRM/PLU diaspora engagement, emphasizing peace, national unity, and patriotism’’, said Kananura commending President Museveni’s visionary and steady leadership, highlighting his role as a symbol of stability and the key driver behind Uganda’s progress over recent decades.

    He said Museveni has exhibited commitment to peace, poverty reduction, and infrastructure development, which have positively impacted millions both within Uganda and in the diaspora.

     

    He also commended PLU leadership including; General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Michael Nuwagira Kaguta, known as Toyota, Rutasharara Steven among others for their visionary leadership.

    On his side , Nkuusa who has been meeting several stakeholders ever since he jetted in , commended Museveni for the skill in handling regional and international challenges while preserving national unity.

    Nkuusa commended Chairman Toyota for his exceptional leadership in maintaining  discipline, cohesion, and grassroots mobilization during this crucial election period, which the PLU Chief Mobiliser said strengthens NRM/PLU’s electoral prospects.

    Nkuusa and the group, will also be doing grassroot mobilization, meeting various stakeholders including the youth , Media campaigns as well as attending the remaining rallies for the NRM Presidential flag bearer , Yoweri Museveni.
