    APA Insurance Uganda, in partnership with Hollard Health, has launched an innovative international health insurance solution – APA International Health. This new offering seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology with a personalised approach, enabling members to proactively manage their health.  By providing accessible information and intuitive tools, the health insurance solution ensures that users can make informed decisions about their health and well-being with confidence and ease.  The launch marks a significant step forward in health management, promising enhanced healthcare experiences and improved health outcomes for individuals, families, SME’s  and corporates.

    Specifically developed for the discerning market, APA International Health emphasises preventive care and wellness, offering comprehensive support, accessible information and quality care as key differentiators. This innovative, digitally-enabled service is encompasses the HealthMov wellness app, which allows members to scan and manage their health and well-being on their own terms. The app promotes positive behaviour changes and rewards members for their wellbeing, all from the convenience of their smart phones.

    Depending on the chosen plan, coverage areas include Africa, India, Europe and worldwide, with five comprehensive plans to select from.  The health insurance solution aims to enhance the quality of healthcare by integrating wellness incentives that reduce healthcare costs and improve overall health. By encouraging proactive health management, APA Insurance and Hollard Health are committed to fostering a healthier, more empowered community.

    Uganda has the second youngest population in the world, with over three-quarters (78%) of its citizens under the age of 35*. This youthful demographic is highly receptive to health insurance solutions that are digitally driven. Another key health trend is the shift from communicable or contagious diseases to non-communicable diseases, often related to lifestyle choices.  It is here that these unique healthcare solutions, that reward healthy living, can assist employers manage employee health for the best business and individual outcomes.

Distribution is agent-friendly, enabling sales through brokers and agents , and service delivery is reinforced by Henner, a trusted TPA known for reliability and client satisfaction.

    At the heart of this offering is the HealthMov app, a smart health platform that goes beyond traditional insurance by helping members actively manage their well-being. Using advanced technology, the app tracks heart rate, breathing, stress levels, and BMI simply through facial and movement scans. It then provides personalised feedback, lifestyle guidance, rewards, and access to features such as health monitoring, goal tracking, educational resources, and behaviour insights.

    “The HealthMov app is so intuitive, it puts a virtual doctor, personal trainer, health coach, and mentor in every member’s pocket,” said Manan Desai, CEO, APA Uganda.

    The app also offers telehealth consultations and access to second medical opinions, ensuring timely, convenient, and informed healthcare decisions—anytime, anywhere.

    In November 2023, Apollo Investments Limited, the parent company of its flagship subsidiary APA Insurance (APA), entered into a strategic partnership with Hollard International.  This collaboration aims to unlock new business opportunities across the African continent for both insurers.
