Hellen Adoa Abeku, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer and incumbent Woman Member of Parliament for Serere District was on Wednesday officially nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest in the upcoming elections.
Adoa, Uganda’s State Minister for Fisheries, was the first to be duly nominated by the Serere District Returning Officer of the Independent Electoral Commission.
Adoa arrived at the Electoral Commission offices at 8:AM aboard a private motor vehicle and after examining the nomination papers declared , she was declared as a duly nominated candidate for the Serere District Woman MP seat as the NRM flag bearer.
Adoa, after being nominated, lauded the people of Serere for the unwavering support since she was elected women MP for Serere District to date.
Adoa saluted President Yoweri Museveni for the trust and mentorship. She promised to champion the implementation of the NRM manifesto that seeks to protect the gains and make qualitative Leap into the high middle income status for all Ugandans.
Speaking to the gathering at the Nomination Rally at Sapir Primary School in Ocaapa town council , Adoa thanked the people of Serere for their continued trust and reaffirmed her commitment to issues that have defined her tenure—empowering women, creating employment opportunities, and promoting climate-smart agriculture.
Adoa, who has served both as an MP and minister, is expected to campaign on her track record in improving fisheries livelihoods, initiating community development projects, and championing programs for youth and women in the district.
Several supporters gathered at Sapir Primary School to celebrate, chanting party slogans and carrying placards of support describing Adoa as a “true daughter of Serere” who has “consistently championed the welfare of all communities.”
