Police and other security agencies in Uganda are actively pursuing saboteurs accused of impersonating Youth Platform Africa (YPA), as well as extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public.
YPA, is a pan-African agribusiness organization that focuses on empowering individuals and drives sustainable change through commercial goat farming, agribusiness training, access to export markets, and financial incentives.
Addressing Journalists on September Wednesday 17 2025, at their offices along Rubaga Road, Opposite Access Building in Kampala Mr. Obed Ben , the Managing Director of YPA said ;
‘’It’s so unfortunate that after a long run and campaign against YPA, they have failed to get a concrete, reasonable case against YPA. It is always known that whoever grows is to be talked about. That is why we don’t mind whoever is talking about us. YPA is not created by words. YPA is created by what it believes in and the services it delivers to the people of Uganda and the world at large’’, said Obed.

He added that ; ‘’Today we are here to talk about the fact that they have failed to get someone with a defamatory story claiming to be a victim. After failing to get someone to bribe to tell a negative story about YPA, they have now decided to create their own story by scamming people in the name of YPA. They have registered a company called YPA Gold Traders, which is not our company. We don’t know anything about it and we’re not the people responsible for that registration. So whoever is dealing with YPA Gold Traders, you’re not dealing with us’’, Obed warned
He noted that the impersonators who have registered have used his name, and email for registration, to target unsuspecting members of the public.
They have also used YPA pictures, particularly Obed’s , as their profile picture, especially onWhatsapp to hoodwink members of the public.
‘’If you happen to enter that group, you’ll see Obed, they are sharing pictures and information. They have instead used our pictures, our names, for the company and for myself, and they are posting all the videos that we post on our social media but the police are already investigating this matter’’, he explained further.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the person who registered this company as a sole proprietor is by the name of Lois, a female of 47, somewhere in Kampala.
‘’Much as we are going to arrest or find these people, and they answer in the criminal courts of law, we want to warn the public with so much emphasis, do not be scammed. YPA operates around four different residences. Our prime and premium head office is at Rubaga Road. We are also at Nansana, that is still, access building is also at Rwaga Road. Nansana at our YPA building there. We are at Gomba Madu and in Masaka, along Kampala Road. So, do not dare to click on any link, we don’t have any links so far. All our operations start with our offices. And we have known office numbers. So if you’re dealing with anyone, before you buy your goat from them, before you buy or do any business with them, call on our known numbers’’, said Obed.
In May this year , President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni commended the Youth Platform Africa (YPA) for their remarkable journey of transformation and expansion in agri-business.
The president was happy to learn that they have been able to grow from rearing just 100 goats, to now 110,000 goats; and from growing maize on an acre of land, to now 36,000 acres. He said this tremendous growth testifies to their hard work and commitment to wealth and jobs creation, through commercial agriculture and thanked the leaders and members of YPA for propagating the NRM’s message on wealth creation, among the young people.
President Museveni thanked the YPA for taking advantage of the prevailing positive conditions of peace and good infrastructure i.e. roads, electricity etc., to create wealth and jobs.
The Managing Director of YPA, Mr. Obed started in 2008 as an ordinary village group with 21 individuals, then grew to Community Based Organization in 2010 with a group of 60 people who now serve as the Board of Governors, Executive Committee and Managing Directors.
YPA is an organization committed to empowering individuals and driving positive change throughout the African Continent.
YPA also has four mbuzi choma restaurants around the country and plans to set up 2 factories that will be producing wheat and fertilizers.
