Vice President Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo Rose Epel has been sworn in as the woman member of Parliament for Katakwi District. Alupo came through unopposed after all her contestants withdrew from the race.

Alupo thanked the people of Katakwi for yet another mandate to serve them and further urged her electorate to take advantage of government livelihood programmes, including the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, the Women Fund, the Youth fund, disability grants and elderly support programmes, saying they are designed to help to help citizens transition into the money economy.

The vice president later hosted her supporters to assumptuous luncheon at Speke Resort Munyonyo, which was graced by various religious leaders, the Chief Justice Flavian Zaija, NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Tadwong, Ambassadors of Foreign Missions, NRM Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda Calvin Echodu, various ministers and members of Parliament both Outgoing and Incoming and officials from NRM Electoral Commission among other dignitaries.

NRM Secretary General Tadwong thanked the people of Katakwi for supporting government by voting only NRM party flag bearers. EU Ambassador Jan Sadek applauded Alupo for all her successes, not only nationally but internationally. “Your Excellency, you have been so instrumental in shaping EU-Uganda partnerships and cordial relations,” Sadek said.

RDC Ilemukori congratulated President Museveni and VP Alupo upon their milestone, emphasising that for all the years he has been on earth, the RDC had never seen a government that cares for its people like NRM.
