    This December, the heartbeat of Kigezi will echo through the capital louder than ever before. The drums, the laughter, the aroma of freshly prepared enturire, the Christmas stories that once warmed childhood nights are now at your disposal.

    The Hills Are Coming to Kampala: A Kikiga Christmas Adventure Like No Other

    Kampala is about to experience all of it as Bakiga Nation unveils the much-anticipated Rukundo Egumeho – Nohiri Yeitu Christmas Festival on Sunday, 14th December 2026 at Millenium Grounds Lugogo.

    If you thought you knew Christmas in Kampala, think again.

    This isn’t just a festival. It’s a journey, back to the hills, back to childhood, back to identity. Imagine, the sun dips low over the city, and suddenly Spring Road transforms into a bustling cultural village, children chasing Father Christmas through stalls of crafts, mothers laughing over kikiga delicacies, and elders gathered under a tree telling the stories that shaped generations.

    This year, Bakiga Nation is raising the stakes, recreating the real Kigezi Christmas right at the heart of the city. “This is the Christmas of our childhood… the drums, the carols, the stories. We’re bringing it home to Kampala,” the Bakiga Nation team said. Under theme: Nohiri Yeitu. Our Christmas. Our way.

    This edition will a choir that’s has promised to, “Shake the dust off your soul”. Presented by the, The Bakiga Nation Mass Choir, a mighty ensemble set to deliver Christmas carols the Kikiga way. Think harmonies that lift you, drums that move you, and voices that remind you of home.

    The Hills Are Coming to Kampala: A Kikiga Christmas Adventure Like No Other

    And the lineup doesn’t stop there. Cultural and contemporary stars will light up the stage, including; Florence Musimenta, Lillian Nabaasa, Norman Shaaka, Lady Sarah, TPaul, The Bakiga Nation Cultural Troupe.

    The cheery on the cake will be Sheebah Karungi, who be performing for the first time on the Bakiga Nation stage, in what she has promised to be a for “a once-in-a-lifetime cultural-meets-mainstream fusion performance.” In her socials she added, “Expect energy. Expect magic. Expect a performance Kampala will talk about for years.”

    This year’s festival is backed by a strong roster of partners who believe in the mission of cultural preservation and celebration: Pilsner Lager, Roke Telkom, Tents 4 U, Pacific Events, Sanyuka TV, AfroMobile, Next Music, Capital Radio, and Black.
