During the final leg of his Eastern Uganda presidential campaign tour, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni held a crucial engagement with youth leaders from the region at Kityelera State Lodge in Mayuge District.
This meeting served as an important platform for guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction as we move toward securing the future leadership of our country.
In his address, the President took the youth through the four key sectors and the seven ways for wealth and job creation, emphasizing the central role young people must play in transforming their households and communities.
He reminded the youth that Uganda’s journey to prosperity depends on widespread participation in productive and income-generating activities.
Quoting him:
“Uganda can only achieve prosperity when every household is engaged in productive work that generates income, not just food for home consumption.”
The President emphasized that this knowledge and message must be disseminated to all youths across Uganda so that no young person is left behind in the struggle for transformation from obworo to matafari.
During the meeting, the youth leaders also used the opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the Tribunal’s decision to overturn the victory of their elected Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region, Mr. Kiyimba Rakibu, who traversed the entire country and won the mandate of the young people genuinely and transparently. The youth voiced concerns about fairness and the integrity of internal democratic processes within the Movement.
In his response, President Museveni expressed disappointment with the selective application of justice, noting that such practices undermine unity and the spirit of the NRM.
He assured the youth that he would take personal interest in the matter to ensure that truth and fairness prevail.
Despite this concern, the youth leaders from Eastern Uganda unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to rally behind and support all NRM flag bearers in the region. They pledged to uphold the values of the Movement and ensure overwhelming support for NRM structures and leadership.
Kiyimba Rakibu noted that As young people, we move forward with strengthened resolve, inspired by the guidance of the President, and united in our mission to build a prosperous and transformative Uganda.
