Tragedy as Greenhill Buwate P.6 Pupil who fell From School Building dies
A Primary Six pupil at Greenhill School (Buwate) has died, three weeks after sustaining severe injuries in a suspected suicide that occurred last month.
The boy, whose identity is being withheld because he was a minor, fell from the second floor of a classroom block shortly after leaving his class at around 4:03pm on October 22, 2025.
“The video footage shows him moving from his seat, picking toilet tissue and rushing out of his class,” Greenhill said in a statement in October after the incident.
“He ran to the next class and jumped over the balcony,” it added.
“We rushed him to hospital where he was joined by family members.”
He remained hospitalized for weeks as medical teams attempted to stabilise him. However, despite intensive treatment, the boy died on November 12, 2025, from complications related to the injuries.
Greenhill School officials said they had notified police, the Ministry of Education, and child-welfare authorities immediately after the incident, and continued to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
“This is a devastating loss for our school community. We mourn the passing of our pupil and extend our deepest sympathies to the family,” a school official said. Counsellors have since been deployed to offer emotional support to teachers and learners.
Greenhill Primary School Buwaate began operation in February 2012 and is a sister school to Greenhill Academy, Kibuli. The school with both Nursery and Primary Sections is located along Kiira – Kasangati road.
