In a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) in Uganda’s Capital Kampala , officials revealed that H.E President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, will  be elected for a two (2) year period as Chairperson of the APR Forum at the 35th Ordinary Session scheduled to take place on 20 February, 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This is in line with the provisions of the APRM Statute and the Rules of Procedure of the African Peer Review Forum of Heads of State and Government (APR Forum).

According to officials ,this decision will be approved and endorsed by the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government scheduled to take place from 21-22 February, 2026 also in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Additionally, the Minister of State for Planning and APRM Focal Point of the Republic of Uganda will also automatically assume the Chairpersonship of the APRM Focal Points Committee for a period of two (2) years.

It should be noted that Uganda is one of the most outstanding APRM Member States in terms of its commitment to the mechanism.

Hon.Lugoloobi  informed the APRM CEO that Uganda proposes the theme: “Leveraging Inter-and Intra-Regional Trade and Security for Africa’s Transformation” during her tenure.

He reiterated Uganda’s determination to provide transformative leadership during the Troika tenure.

Amb.Marie-Antoinette said the APRM structures should be the instruments and tools that will change the African continent by crystalizing the aspirations of the African people as outlined in Agenda 2063.

“Let us work together to cement democratic governance, entrench good governance, fortify our institutions, and build an Africa where leadership is accountable, resources are equitably managed, rights are protected, and economic prosperity and opportunities abound for all people,” she said.
