The 10-day Egyptian familiarisation trip to Uganda that ran from April 19th to 29th 2026 has officially concluded in western Uganda at Emburara Farm Lodge, marking the successful completion of a mission designed to advance Uganda’s Economic & Commercial Diplomacy (ECD) agenda and operationalise the Tenfold Growth Strategy. The final leg of the journey immersed the delegation in Uganda’s pastoral heritage, highlighted by the iconic Ankole long-horned cattle an enduring symbol of culture, sustainability, and the deep link between tourism and agriculture. The experience provided a fitting conclusion to a multi-dimensional tour that connected landscapes, livelihoods, and investment potential.

Over the course of 10 days, the Egyptian delegation explored Uganda’s most iconic destinations, including Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and the Source of the Nile. Each destination showcased a unique aspect of Uganda’s tourism and economic landscape from wildlife and conservation to culture and community enterprise.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, renowned documentary photographer Ashraf Talaat noted:
“This journey has redefined how we experience destinations. Uganda offers something rare authenticity, diversity, and a human connection that stays with you.” Acclaimed Egyptian actor Mahmoud Hemida added: “This has been a deeply personal and transformative experience. Uganda is not only a place to visit it is a place to connect, and potentially to invest in and grow with.”

Founder of Emburara Farm Lodge, Florence Tumwebaze, expressed appreciation for inclusion in the programme: “Hosting such a delegation affirms that Uganda’s local investments are part of a global tourism value chain. It motivates us to elevate standards and align with international expectations.” From a policy standpoint, Alan Tazenya, Counsellor at the Uganda Embassy in Cairo, emphasized: “This mission reflects the practical implementation of ECD where visibility, partnerships, and market access converge to support Uganda’s Tenfold Growth Strategy.”

In his closing remarks, Lt. Gen. Charles Angina, Chargé d’Affaires at the Uganda Embassy Cairo, highlighted the outcomes of the mission: “This fam trip visit has moved beyond introduction to tangible engagement. What has been built here are not just impressions, but relationships and confidence in Uganda as a destination for tourism and investment. Our focus now is to translate this experience into sustained partnerships and increased flows between our two countries.”

As the delegation departs Uganda, they carry with them more than experiences, they carry Uganda’s story. A story of authenticity, opportunity, and connection that will be shared across Egypt and the wider Middle East. In doing so, they become ambassadors of Uganda’s potential advancing tourism visibility, strengthening bilateral ties, and contributing to a shared vision of growth under the ECD framework. Uganda, in turn, reaffirms its position not only as the Pearl of Africa but as a partner ready for the future.
