Uganda’s Apex International University has been named The Unstoppable African University of the Year 2026 at the prestigious Unstoppable African Awards held at Hilton Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.

The award, organised by The African Agenda Forum (TAAF), recognises the university’s contribution to African unity, educational advancement and its commitment to expanding access to higher education.

Apex International University was particularly recognised for its commitment to supporting African students through its full tuition-support initiative, aimed at reducing financial barriers to university education.

Speaking following the recognition, the university’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Lubwama Ntege, described the award as a significant achievement for Uganda and the institution.

“This recognition motivates us to do even more. At Apex International University, we believe that financial limitations should not prevent talented young Africans from accessing higher education. Our vision is to transform lives through education, knowledge and skills,” Dr Lubwama said.

    EXPANDING ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION

Apex International University, with its main campus in Wakiso and Kampala campus in Bukoto, offers flexible learning opportunities, including day, evening, weekend and other approved learning arrangements.

The university provides academic programmes across different disciplines, with an emphasis on practical skills, professional development, research, innovation and preparing graduates for the changing global employment market.

Its full tuition-support initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to making university education more accessible, with students meeting applicable functional and other approved charges.

    A RECOGNITION FOR UGANDA

The university expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Kenya, The African Agenda Forum, The Unstoppable African Awards Secretariat and the people of Uganda for supporting initiatives that promote African unity and development.

The university also recognised the contribution of its students, parents, staff, management, partners and stakeholders towards its growth.

Receiving the award, Apex International University has pledged to strengthen its commitment to quality education, research, innovation and international partnerships.

The institution believes that Africa’s transformation depends on accessible education and graduates equipped with the knowledge and skills to address the continent’s challenges.
