In a heartwarming demonstration of compassion and commitment to social inclusion, Frank Bulira Kabinga , the leader of the Revolutionary People’s Party (RPP) and former Presidential candidate , on Sunday February 8th 2026 marked his birthday with an extensive community outreach initiative to support vulnerable children at the Missionaries of the Poor, a faith-based organization dedicated to assisting Uganda’s most marginalized individuals.

The Missionaries of the Poor have been active in Uganda since 2000, serving over 400 residents in two shelters, including children with disabilities, individuals with mental health challenges, elderly people who have been abandoned, and street children from refugee and slum communities. Additionally, more than 700 homes in nearby communities benefit from their outreach programs.

Bulira provided support to the home through the supply of food items, cleaning and sanitary supplies, among others.

During the ceremony, caretakers at Bethlehem Home, expressed profound gratitude for Bulira’s support, highlighting the vital role such partnerships play in their operations.

“We receive children even from police stations, from local councils, and even at our gate. These are the ones who have been forgotten or rejected. But here, we are here to give hope to the hopeless, the homeless, and those rejected by society. We live entirely by donations and assistance from well-wishers.”

The Missionaries of the Poor (MOP) is a home that takes care of the poor, needy, homeless, depressed and disabled children who have been abandoned by society and need a loving home, food and care. Some of the children in the home are mentally and physically incapacitated and depend entirely on the generous support of the community.

According to results released by the Electoral Commission, Bulira polled 45,959 votes, representing 0.4 per cent of the total valid votes cast, placing him fifth out of eight candidates. President Yoweri Museveni was declared winner with 7,946,772 votes, equivalent to 71 per cent of the total vote.

Bulira however  accused the Electoral Commission of lacking independence, alleging that it operated in favour of President Museveni and could therefore not be trusted to deliver a free and fair electoral process.
